Monarch Riflescope 4-16x42SF Matte Mildot

Monarch Riflescope 4-16x42SF Matte Mildot Description
Offering all the power necessary for long-range varmints but with a big enough field of view for close-quarter big-game hunting, the all-purpose Nikon Monarch 4-16x42SF sets the standard for scope performance. The riflescope offers such features as a one-piece, 1-inch main body tube; a creative Eyebox design with a huge ocular that provides a 4x magnification range and 4 inches of constant eye relief without sacrificing the field of view; a precise mil-dot reticle for accurate targeting; an ultra ClearCoat system for 95 percent light transmission; and fully multicoated, super-high-performance lenses. After the lenses are cut and polished, Nikon coats them with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds. The compounds serve to boost light transmission, improve contrast (to pull game out of its surroundings), deliver true color rendition and flare-free viewing, and enhance the overall image quality.

In addition, the riflescope is prepared for years of reliable service thanks to its 100-percent waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof housing. The scope is O-ring sealed, oxygen purged, and nitrogen filled to prevent fogging, while the waterproof performance is guaranteed, even with the windage and elevation caps off. Other details include a quick focus eyepiece; a locking side-focus parallax adjustment; interchangeable turret technology with target-style windage and elevation adjustment knobs and caps; enhanced ring spacing that allows you to mount the scope on virtually any rifle; and a unique zoom control with rearward facing numbers. Sunshade adaptable, the riflescope carries Nikon's full lifetime warranty.

This is a great scope for the price.
, December 24, 2011 By Randolph w. Hogrefe (REDDING, CA, US)

When I first ordered this scope I thought it was a 30mm main tube and was on the fence wether to keep it or not. Im glad I did it works perfect with a 20 moa base shooting out to a thousand yards with my 300 wsm. Clicks are solid and spot on.

Amazing Clarity..., October 8, 2011 By R. Shaw "DR_NO" (Stafford, Va)
(REAL NAME)

I bought this scope for my own precision shooting @ 100yds and have been more than pleased with its clarity in low light (dusk, dawn) and adding the sunshade in direct sun light has greatly helped with glare.

Please take note, one of my shooting advisers (Dave B.) told me about the Nikon glass and I when I looked through it; I knew that I had opened a can of worms with stepping into the big league of professional shooters.

Great Scope, July 1, 2011 By hiperfind

Typically I buy only USA made optics, but had to grab this one. Love the side focus knob, good clear optics, and came with flip up scope caps! Only bugaboo is close range (<50yds) can be blurry at high magnification, so for tack driving at closer ranges, just dial back the mag a bit. Glad I bought it.

Excellent!

This is an excellent, crystal clear scope. It lets a good deal of light in and the glass is flawless. The price was fantastic compared to other sites that offer the same scope. Highly recomended.

This my third Nikon Monarch rifle scope. These scopes have superior resolution and very good eye relief. In my opinion, you can't find a better value in a quality scope.

Superb scope, superb mount, excellent value and accurate., February 28, 2011 By Longrider33 (Pleasanton, CA)

This system from Nikon, both scope and mount are beautifully designed for the AR-platform rifles, both carbine and rifle length. Mounting is of course a "piece of cake", optics superb and adjustment logical, precise and repeatable. I am only recently returning to shooting the AR, having been an owner of a very early Colt AR-15 in the mid-sixties; had to sell it at one time and always wanted a replacement.

I have this scope mounted on a flat-top Smith & Wesson M&P-15 and am very pleased with both the installation and the performance. Sighting in was not a chore with a bore-mounted laser and the results have been everything I've hoped for.

Recommended to all.

I just my hands on one and it has my heavy barrl. .223 shooting just as tight at 100 yards as it did before. The range I am shooting at only goes out to 100 yards. Anyway, I shot targets using the 2nd and third circles and compared them to the elevation expected from the Nikon Spot On Ballistic Match Technology program and it all matched up for me. I used factory Winchester Supreme ammo too. I have also have 3 of the M-223 3-12x42SF with the Rapid action Turrets. These are a couple of my favorite optics to use. I have hit targets out ot 600 yards with the help of these scopes.

Great Scope, October 19, 2011 By Patrick S Taylor (ZIONSVILLE, IN, US)

This a great scope for the money and compliments my AR nicely. The BDC works great and have shot it out to 500 yards accurately. I will be getting another for my 6.8 that I am building too.

You don't have to buy USA for a quality optic, January 15, 2012 By Ian

Dollar for dollar, Nikon beats Leupold hands down. This is a seriously nice rifle scope for any hunting rifle that shoots within 400 yards. The optical clarity is very good and the side parallax knob and target style turrets are welcome features.

I have mine mounted on a Savage 17 HMR and plan on buying another for a 30-06 Remington 700 once funds are available.

Be sure to save some money for a quality set of scope rings. Leupold bases and rings are strong and not too expensive.

sweet, December 19, 2011 By joezeyboy

I was looking for a good scope with good magnification clear optics and no parallax issues and repeatability on adjustments. It works great on my Wetherby .17HMR. Thanks to Amazon I received it fast and for the best price anywhere!!

Great Scope- can take the abuse!!, December 7, 2011 By A

Put this guy on my Mk14Mod0 and it holds up just great! Love the Mildot. I have yet to take it out past 100 Yards but so far everything looks very clear and bright. Easy to dial in and great eye relief!

great scope, October 3, 2011 By Tom

I have mine on a savage model 10 LE with the HS precision stock... ie very accurate rifle so I didn't want to put an unreliable piece of glass on it. I can't justify a 850+ dollar optic for the little shooting I do so I found this scope and have been very pleased. I love the mil dot reticle and side focus. The turrets give positive feed back and have proven to be precise. This is the cheapest scope I've had that I have confidence in it a) not breaking, b) holding zero, and c) that 1 click truly equals 1/4 inch at 100 yards. As a side note, I put the tall turrets on it that Nikon put out for the monarch and they fit perfectly, from the turrets to the covers.

Great Scope, August 23, 2011 By Hanale

I have brought Nikon Products and have owned several scopes. The optics is great and I received the scope really quickly, I would recommend this scope.

Great scope!, June 27, 2011 By Merlin "magic" (Ogden, UT)

Last year I purchased a similar Nikon scope in 6-20X40 for a Remington rifle. The scope was great. The rifle sucked. So when I bought an AR15, I needed another good scope. I bought this 4.5-14X40 Nikon Buckmaster and the M223 ring mount through Amazon, and the combo has worked out beautifully at a very decent price! The diopter at the rear of the scope dials in clarity, and the side focus works like an adjustable objective lens. I couldn't be more pleased. Great quality! Great light, especially for this low price and having only a 40mm objective lens. Highly recommended!

Excellent quality scope, June 13, 2011 By Herbert Garrison

I love this scope. Had a budget of $300 and after a lot of research I had it narrowed down to the Buckmasters 4.5 - 14X or a Monarch 2 - 8X. Chose this one because I wanted the magnification to shoot at greater distances.

I mounted it on my brand new Weatherby Vanguard .223 as a medium range small game rifle combo. Bought aluminum Talley rings to go with it. Took it out, zeroed it, and shot a 5 shot, .75" group at 100 yards. Click adjustments are tight and solid, and it has held zero perfectly. Set it, put the covers back on the turrets, and forget about it. Eye relief is good. The sight picture is very clear and bright with no distortion around the edges. I love the BDC reticle, but have yet to use it for shots past 100 yards. Cons are that the zoom ring is fairly stiff and requires a lot of rotation; and the scope design is not for the tactical, dial-in each shot type of shooter. If you are a holdover kind of person like me, get this scope with the BDC reticle and you will not be disappointed.

Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40, March 9, 2011 By Larry S.

Wow is this scope is crisp and clear. I compared this Nikon Buckmaster next to the comprible Leupold scope and I did not find such a significant difference to justify the double cost of the Leupold. I am very happy with the scope and will be buying another one for my other rifle. Thanks.

Very Good scope for the money, March 1, 2011 By johnha

I would definitely recommend this product, installation and sighting was easy. Good fit and finish. Not really a complaint but an observation, this scope is not as crisp in low light dawn and dusk situations as my Leupold.

Great Low Light Scope, January 3, 2011 By Richard Szkodzinski (USA)
(REAL NAME)

I was researching scopes for a week and was disappointed at the quality of all the scopes that were priced around 200-300 dollars. If you wanted a great scope with awesome optics you needed to pay 500+ or settle for one of the other brands that come close to being great. But you dont need to settle with this scope. The NIKON brand says it all. The scope is a tough little scope. Built well, solid feeling. The controls are perfect with positive click feedback with every minute of angle change. The use of a coin to reset to zero is a nice touch. Any scope that offers reticular focus is typically really expensive, but not this scope.
The best part ... The optics are crisp from 4.5x to 14x and really really bright, feels like a 52mm instead of the 40mm. The eye relief is almost too generous, nearing 4 inches, and the image fills the entire exit pupil edge to edge. The cross hairs are thick as well. No need for additional lighting of the reticle at dusk or dawn.
I would buy this scope for all my firearms I use for 50-100 Yard sighting. You will not be disappointed.

Canon 12x36 Image Stabilization II Binoculars w/Case, Neck Strap & Batteries

Canon 12x36 Image Stabilization II Binoculars w/Case, Neck Strap & Batteries

Description Canon's 12x36 Image Stabilization II binoculars incorporate an optical image stabilizer for shake-free viewing with minimal eye fatigue. This technology was first developed for Canon video camcorders and is now available in many of Canon's binoculars. The system employs a Vari-Angle Prism, dual transparent plates, independent vertical and horizontal sensors, and a dedicated microprocessor to continuously adjust the prism to maintain a steady image.

These 12x36 Image Stabilization II binoculars feature a water-resistant rubber coating for nonslip holding. If you get caught in light rain, you don't have to worry about the optics fogging up or getting ruined. These binoculars deliver high magnification, long eye relief, and wide-field viewing. Controls for focusing and image stabilization are centrally located and are accessible by both hands.

Improvements to the objective lens assembly have resulted in the binoculars being approximately 26% lighter and 10% smaller than the previous 12x36 IS model they replace. And reductions in power consumption mean a massive 270% increase in battery life of up to four hours using two AA-size alkaline batteries.

Image Stabilization and More
With any high magnification binoculars, most users will experience frustrating image shake. Unless fixed to a tripod, image shake can render high magnification binoculars useless. Canon's IS technology is remarkably effective at eliminating this problem and is widely used by the television industry with Canon's professional broadcast quality video recording equipment. A special VAP (Vari-Angle Prism) corrective IS system sits between the objective lens group and the porro prism on each side of the binoculars. Within thousandths of a second of the binoculars being moved from their optical axis by vibrations, a detection system activates the IS mechanism. The VAP shape alters to refract or 'bend' the light path by precisely the right amount, thus fully compensating for the vibration. It is this essentially immediate response that effectively suppresses image shake. The binoculars' compact design is based on Canon's popular 10x30 IS model. Curved surfaces mean easy handling, while nature lovers will appreciate the low-reflectance exterior and low gloss front covers, which help to avoid disturbing birds and other

What do the numbers mean?
15x50? 8x25? The two numbers used to describe any pair of binoculars are their magnification — 8x, 12x, 15x and so on — and the diameter of their objective lenses — 25mm, 36mm, 50mm, and so on. The larger the first number is, the larger the object will appear to be in the objective lens. For instance, if you use a 10x lens and look at an object that is 100 yards away, it appears to be the same size as an object located just 10 yards away. The second number, the size of the objective lens, is important because the larger the objective lens, the more light it can admit for brighter, more detailed images, and the better suited they will be for lowlight situations.

Great binoculars
, January 16, 2012 By gatorhiker (FL, USA)

I bought these before a trip to Yellowstone and they were worth every cent. We had other binoculars with us but after using these no one wanted to use the others. Very clear, very stable, and very easy to use even for my 6 and 9 year old children. We will definitely be buying a 2nd pair before our next family trip.

Five years old, no problems, December 9, 2011 By Hobby Chef (Greenville, SC USA)

I've had these 12x36 binoculars for 5 years and I've used them regularly without any problems at all. I've changed the batteries once. no complaints, only praise for this product.

Outstanding binoculars, November 9, 2011 By Angie K. (Saint Paul, MN)

These are really great binoculars for birding. The images are bright and sharp. My only suggestion for improvement would be for Canon to include lens caps for the lenses; caps are included for the eyepieces.

Great binoculars for my father, October 28, 2011 By P. Breakfield IV "Tom Steele" (Greenville, SC United States)
(REAL NAME)

My dad is in his late sixties and he and my mother live in Florida with a large backyard that borders on a large pond with a small island. They have a regular series of visitors throughout the year; an alligator who lays eggs on the island every year, some otters who spend time each spring and of course Herons, Anhingas, Ibis, Ducks and a host of other water birds from time to time.

He has become quite the birdwatching enthusiast as a result of all this and he had been using a pair of 1970's era Sears binoculars. I surprised him with these at Christmas and I don't think he fully understood what they were. He just thanked me for the new binoculars and set them aside.

Later, when we finally made it outside to do some viewing, I explained about the Image Stabilization and showed him how to use it. But trust me, it didn't take the Image Stabilization to "Wow" him (or me! The optics of these binoculars are astonishing to begin with, even without using the IS. The are just amazing to look through, and then on top of that, you press the IS button and all the shake goes away. It is truly incredible.

As you can imagine, he has been thrilled with the binoculars and uses them regularly. With his age, his eyes aren't what they used to be and his grip isn't as steady as it once was - but he doesn't miss a thing with these binoculars. They aren't cheap, but if you have the money to spend these are amazing binoculars. Highly recommended and no regrets at all with these!

Image Stabilized Binoculars
, October 1, 2011 By Jim (Vienna, Vatican City State (Holy See))
(REAL NAME)

On a recent cruise, a pair of Canon Image Stabilized bionoculars was included among the amenities in our stateroom. We had never used this type of bionocular before and were amazed at the difference it made. As usual when we are looking for something more on the unique side, we always visit the Amazon website to investigate the different types of binoculars available, including user reviews. After studying the different types, prices and pros/cons of the various offerings, we selected the Canon 12x36 model. We couldn't be happier with our selection. We are not "birders", who seem to be the most likely to purchase image-stabilized binoculars, but we do enjoy bringing distant views closer to home, especially in the mountains or while on a cruise. These glasses offered the best optics vs price of all the options we considered. The Canon 12x36 model is sturdy without being either too large or heavy. The quality of the optics is exceptional and offers exactly the power and clarity we were looking for and expected from an optics company like Canon. You can spend more or less; you can get more power or less; you can get larger or smaller; but we feel these glasses are an excellent choice for people such as us who just want a quality binocular with exceptional magnification and stability and aren't trying to identify whether that bird flying in the distance has the tell-tale blue dot on the underside of the left wing. Well done Canon. We highly recommend this product.

Great Product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
, May 31, 2011 By Mikev

Being an avid birder, this pair of Binoculars is brilliant. The slight shake one has when viewing a bird, which is a distance away is totally eliminated.
Went for the 12 x 36 due to the lighter weight compared to the 15 x 50, and 18 x 50 models. Have been a Canon Camera fan for a number of years, am now a Canon Binocular fan as well!!!

Image steady, even on rocking ship, March 7, 2011 By Amanda Lundie (Saratoga, CA)
(REAL NAME)

I ordered these binoculars for a trip to Antarctica because we were going to be on a cruise ship and zodiacs so the image stabilization was a desired feature. They were even better than I expected. They are light weight so easy to have around your neck, the fold-back cups on the lenses were great for my husband, who wears glasses, and the image stabilization was magic! The image held steady even in the bumpy conditions we had in the Drake's passage, which made them perfect for bird and wildlife watching.

I already had a pair of the 10 power image stabilization binoculars that was about 10 years old. My wife is interested in birdwatching also. So we bought the new ones. They both function very well. The stabilization feature has gotten better in the last 10 years. When you look at the to binoculars side-by-side. There's definitely a improvement in image quality in the new binoculars. Both of them function flawlessly. I've had no problems with the original 10 power binoculars for 10 years.

They were delivered on time and in good condition.

canon 12x36 image stabilization binos, November 23, 2010 By pacnwhunter

Excellent binoculars for wildlife viewing. Image stabilization works amazing for dialing in on far away objects without having to use a tripod or bipod.
Compared (am and pm)side by side with another high-end pair of standard binoculars and could not tell the difference in overall brightness of image between these 12x36's and those 10x42's. These Canon's are exceptionally bright and clear.
Definitely worth the price.
